LP3 Lincoln Professional Life Cent
The LP3 is known as the "Professional Life" cent released in the third quarter of 2009. The LP3 commemorates Lincoln's Professional Years in Illinois from 1830 - 1861. The reverse side of the LP3 depicts Abraham Lincoln standing in front of the Illinois State Capital building.
The US Mint two roll sets of Professional Life cents is now available and selling quickly. Some error coins are being found. The earliest date on a sealed box from the United States Mint that I have seen so far is 7/16/09. Please contact me if you have seen an earlier date. Why is this relevant? The earlier the date on the box, the earlier the coin was struck/produced. Therefore, the quality of the coin should be better and should grade better.
Each box from the mint contains one roll of "P" mint marked coins and one roll of "D" mint marked coins. I recommend you order the maximum of 5 two roll sets from the US Mint as long as the are available and before they sell out as the LP1's and LP2's did. Keep a couple for yourself and sell the others on eBay to make a profit and recoup your original investment.
I also recommend you wait until 2010 to sell them. Demand will be higher because of collectors trying to complete their sets of all four of the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cents. Keep the white US Mint boxes sealed if you want to get top dollar for your coins.
Final LP3 production figures will be posted early in 2010.
An unopened box of LP3 rolls from the US Mint is a must have if you plan on completing the four coin set. These sealed boxes can be found for sale below and on eBay.
