2011 Vicksburg National Park Quarters
The 9th quarter released in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarter™ Program and the forth of 2011 honors Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi . Vicksburg National Park Quarter (MS), were released on August 29th, 2011.
Vicksburg National Military Park commemorates the campaign, siege, and defense of Vicksburg. The city's surrender on July 4, 1863, along with the capture of Port Hudson, LA, on July 8, split the South, giving control of the Mississippi River to the Union.
