2011 Olympic National Park Quarters
The 8th quarter released in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarter™ Program and the third of 2011 honors Olympic National Park in Montana. Olympic National Park Quarter (R71), were released on June 13th, 2011.
Olympic National Park was originally named Mount Olympus National Monument in 1909, the park was re-designated to National Park status by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1938. In 1976, Olympic National Park became an International Biosphere Reserve, and in 1981 it was designated a World Heritage Site. In 1988, Congress designated 95 percent of the park as the Olympic Wilderness.
