The National Parks Quarters series began in 2010 and will go for a minimum of eleven years. The series will consist of at least 56 quarters released at a rate of five per year with reverse designs featuring a National Park or National Site from each state, territory, and the District of Columbia.

The option to extend the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program an additional eleven years exist if there is a large enough demand for the quarters to continue. I can easily see this happening with so many National Parks, Sites, National Forest, Battlefields and Monuments. It would be a shame to leave some of them out. Choosing only one National Park or National Monument from each state is extremely difficult.

Are you one of the thousands that got hooked on coin collecting when the State Quarters came out in 1999? Wasn't it fun collecting quarters from each state? Did you get coins with each US Mint mark? Denver (D), Philadelphia (P) and San Francisco (S)? Did you collect just one quarter from each state or did you stock up with a roll from each state and each mint? Maybe you filled in a map or collected proof sets for each annual release.

Did you know that the 1999 Silver 9 coin proof set is now selling for over $250. on eBay? Keep a watch on these auctions and check the winning bid after the auction has ended. You will see that there are coin dealers and novice coin collectors making a nice profit on their quarter rolls and proof set. Do you own one or more of these proof sets? Bet you wish you did! Those that got in collecting the State quarters early are reaping the rewards of a wise investment.

I am personally a big fan of the National Park system. If you've never visited a National Park I highly recommend you do so. Watch the travel channel, order a video or get a book and figure out which of the beautiful places you would like to visit. I personally love the parks out west. So much too see, so little time.

Let's give credit where credit is due! On June 4, 2008, the bill H.R. 6184: America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 was introduced by Rep. Michael Castle of Delaware.

The legislation was approved by the House of Representatives on July 9, 2008. It was later approved by the Senate on December 10, 2008. The bill was signed into law on December 23, 2008 by President Bush. After that point, it became Public Law No: 110-456

Coin Collecting Tips

If you are in it for fun, order your US Map or coin book and start entering your coins as they are released.

If you are a serious coin collector and investor and plan to profit early or in the future, ordering your coins through NationalParksQuarters.us makes it easy.

For serious collectors and investors, we recommend you order the maximum of 5 boxes of rolls of quarters from the US Mint. Each box contains one roll of quarters from the Denver mint and another roll of National Parks quarters from the Philadelphia mint. If you plan on reselling these boxes, KEEP THEM SEALED. You will turn a much larger profit on sealed boxes. Remember, you want rolls from the US Mint, not bank rolls.

Another thing to look for is early production dates on the box. The earlier a coin is struck at the US Mint, the better grade it will be. But, with that being said, the US Mint changes dies during the coin production process. Dies have a limited life span, so a coin struck with a new die in mid production can look as good as a coin at the beginning of the production process. Coins struck with a brand new die will have a cleaner, mirrored finish as compared to coins struck later in the process that will not be as pristine.

We also recommend you purchase the Clad and Silver Proof Sets. At least one of each. A couple more if you can afford it. Reselling individual proof sets or complete runs of a series can also fetch a nice profit.

Smart resellers hang on until the US Mint has SOLD OUT of an item, then the price jumps. Just keep an eye on eBay. Watch what an item SELLS for, not what an item is listed for sale for. A sealed box of quarters that are sold out at the mint will sell and make you a profit. Take care of your coins and coin boxes and they will take care of you.
